Dorn's method

Dorn's therapy, Dorn's method, Dorn-Breuss's method, Dorn's spine therapy, these are some of the names under which this method is published.

Dorn's therapy is a gentle mobilization of dysfunctional vertebrae and joints. It is a gentle therapy for the spine and all joints in humans and animals. This method is a free-learning therapy. Dieter Dorn wanted many people to learn his method from an early age, so he didn't protect it with the trademark It has advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it has encouraged the rapid spread of a successful method for the benefit of many people and patients. On the other hand, therapists can use this name for the method, even if they have not learned it.

This method consists of 3 parts:

  • Therapy and techniques

  • Own exercises for the disabled

  • Holistic understanding and theory with possible connections between complaints

Dorn's treatment always consists in the application of all 3 areas, if the therapist wants to fully apply them in practice.

Like any other therapy, it has Dorn's method

clear principles that distinguish it from other therapies,

in terms of its application. These principles are:

  • simplicity,

  • softness,

  • manual application,

  • all joints and vertebrae are treatable,

  • own exercise,

  • position diagnostics,

  • patients are active and targeted.

Simplicity: This method has two areas, therapeutic and lay. For healthcare professionals, Dorn's therapy is a specific and differential diagnostic therapy in a holistic approach to the patient. Based on their training, therapists may include contraindications in the treatment, to the exclusion of all relationships between anatomy, physiology and neurology in humans. Lay people can learn this therapy in the sense of helping them to help themselves. The actual exercises developed during treatment by the therapist can be communicated to the patient in a comprehensible manner. In this way, patients can help themselves and take preventive action in the event of recurrent acute symptoms.

Subtlety: This method is used with respect and empathy for the patient. While therapists treat spinal processes or other bones, they record resistance in the tissue and gently apply the desired therapeutic pressure to the tissue. The extent and speed of movement of the treated joints and vertebrae are determined by the patients themselves and they should feel comfortable. Patients can stop treatment at any time. The therapist works with the patient and the tissue. Dorn's method is not chiropractic or the use of force!

Manual application: The main actors are fingers in diagnostics. There are many different fingering techniques. No medication is given during this therapy. There are therapeutic aids that some therapists use in addition.

All joints and vertebrae can be treated : Dorn's method is holistic therapy. All joints and vertebrae can be treated with a thorn. If indicated, the experienced therapist will treat the relevant peripheral joint and vertebra with various possible connections. If the treatment is successful, it is given to the patient as his own exercise.

Own exercise: This is the power of Dorn's method. Each person receives their own specific exercises during treatment. The goal of Dorn's method is to make the patient realize that he can understand, address, and eliminate the causes. Of course, this is an individual process from short to long. Thus, during this transitional period, one's own exercises should be used in case of difficulties. These own exercises are explained in clear language. Therapists point out poor postures, which are often the cause of problems, and explain solutions.

Position Diagnosis : Dorn's method is position diagnosis and therapy based on these findings. This positional diagnostics is its power and simplicity at the same time. Also with this method, the more therapist the therapist has, the more accurately he can perceive more sensitively and treat it accordingly. The main work is performed on the spinal process, if the symptoms persist even after this treatment, it can be distinguished by transverse processes.

Active or assistive: Patients always actively cooperate in Dorn's treatment. Dorn's method is never passive for the patient!

Targeted application : Dorn's method generally shows a clear effect with full application of 3 areas (self-exercise, holistic exercise, therapy) with approximately one hour (whole spine and required peripheral joints) with 2, 3 or 4 appointments, if this method is indicated for the patient and the relationship between patient and therapist is good. Clarification of contraindications / contraindications by the therapist is a prerequisite. It shows cost-effective therapy for patients, health insurers and the economy.
